Know your skin type

Knowing your skin type

is essential in order to determine an appropriate skin care regimen. If you get it wrong you will not be doing your skin any favours at all and can aggravate an already poor state of your skin. If you have an oily skin for example, the last thing you want is to use a thick oil rich moisturiser designed for dry skin. If you have been to us for a facial you were told what your skin type was. But if you haven't had our facial or you just want to double check, bellow is described a method you can use to check for yourself. The four basic categories into which most complexions fall are Oily, Combination, Dry or Sensitive.
Some common symptoms for Oily skin are: shininess, spots, enlarged pores
Some common symptoms for Dry skin are: flaking, face feels tight
Some common symptoms for Sensitive skin are: redness, broken capillaries, rashes, irritation

To check your type:
1 wash your face thoroughly and pat it dry
2 wait exactly one hour
3 cut small pieces of rice paper (or tissue )
4 press the pieces to your forehead, bridge of your nose, cheek bones, temples
5 put the pieces in front of you in a way that you can keep track pof which part of the face it came from
6 if there is is oil on every piece you ave oily skin, if there are flakes and no oil you have a dry complexion. If some are are oily specially form the T zone and some show flakiness then you probably have combination skin, if all pieces are clean you have Normal skin!
It is not always black and white however, for example if the pieces come out clean but your skin feels quite tight your complexion probably leans toward dry rather than normal....so correlate your results with the common symptoms for each skin type.

Now you are in a position to choose products to match your skin type!
